Establishment Attacks Rand Paul on Support of Tenth Amendment, States’ Rights

Yahoo News article released recently reads: Rand Paul’s Troubling Ties to Racists. The article uses the terms “Pro-confederate”, “neo-confederate” and touches on the Civil War. The source used in theYahoo News article is from The Washington Free Beacon, a conservative online news source, which published an article slandering Paul as a radical because his aide (Jack Hunter) has long been a supporter and advocate of the Tenth Amendment to the US Constitution.

The Tenth Amendment reads: The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States, respectively, or to the people.

In layman’s terms, if it is not one of the powers delegated to the federal government by the US Constitution then the federal government has no business exercising power of such matters. In modern America where the federal government controls what kind of shower you can use, the type of light bulbyou are allowed to light your house with and what kind of milk you decide to pour over your cereal in the morning it is no surprise that nullification is becoming a household word again.

Rand Paul

Paul is the first modern US Senator to use the term “nullification” in support of reining in the powers of the federal government when it comes to unconstitutional federal legislation. He first used this when President Obama attempted to issue executive orders on gun control.

Paul recently visited South Carolina and spoke to a group of supporters in support of their efforts to nullify the Patient Care Act in the state through a nullification bill, which cites the Tenth Amendment. Paul says, “You know… READ MORE HERE

Rand Paul: The Next Ronald Reagan

A cavalryman depends on a strong-willed beast. US Senator Rand Paul (R-KY), the equestrian-soldier is riding a sick horse. When the beast becomes too ill, and is determined medically futile the soldier places a bullet in its head. This act is not an easy task to carry out, but the soldier knows a sick horse is a dead horse, which is better put out of its misery.  For a cavalryman in the battlefield it is quick. In Washington, Paul will have to take his time- just as Reagan did. Reagan destroyed the GOP mold of his time. Many wonder, will Paul follow in his steps?

Ronald Reagan and the Paul Family during Reagan's 1976 Presidential bid. Ron and Rand to the left of Reagan.

Ronald Reagan and the Paul Family during Reagan’s 1976 Presidential bid. Ron and Rand to the left of Reagan.

It is quite remarkable that America has already had a Libertarian-leaning Republican, but the establishment GOP wouldn’t dare let you know about it. This man is more quoted, and revered than any other GOP politician in history. His name was Ronald Reagan, and he once said, “The heart of my philosophy is libertarianism.”  You will never see Lindsey Graham or John McCain utter this quote, but come election year they will claim themselves Reaganites. In 1976 at the GOP convention Rand’s father, Congressman Ron Paul (R-TX, Retired), was one of only 4 republican congressmen to support Reagan that year. Reagan lost. In 1980 Reagan tried again, Paul still at his side, but this time Reagan won by a landslide. Reagan’s win marked the beginning of what many recall as the “Reagan Revolution”. The “Revolution” is a purposeful parallel that the Senior Paul carried on into his presidential bids. However, the two Pauls play a remarkably different battle plan. The Senior Paul’s battle was an ideological one. The Junior Paul’s battle plan is a strategic ground game. A game poised to not only win hearts and minds as his father did, but votes as well.

Paul will be able to pull together conservatives and independents from across the spectrum just as Reagan did. He can turn blue states red with his stance on droneswiretappingmedical marijuana and other civil liberties. He is the leading name in the 2016 GOP bid as of now. He has won every recent straw poll his name has been in, and has visited every early primary state multiple times. Also, he is winning the social media race with more than 1 million Facebook fans. There are also multiple support, and “Presidential Draft” pages for Rand Paul with hundreds of thousands of fans. No other potential candidate has this social media force. Look to the Obama presidential wins and we know that elections are now dependent on social media force. Furthermore, one super- PAC has been working feverishly on a draft effort raising thousands of dollars to send out “Paul for President” campaign garb.

This aside, the truth is that Reagan would never be elected in the modern day Republican Party without one hell of a fight. Thirty years has changed the game of American politics with the establishment GOP backed by war lobbyists, big agriculture and the pharmaceutics industry. Paul’s battle will be one against the largest machine yet known to man. Although the establishment holds more events, fundraisers and marketing in the name of Reagan than any other GOP politician in history they do not believe what Reagan believed. The grassroots will support Paul, many state legislators will follow and he will also bring in endorsements from many leading conservative think-tanks such as the Heritage Foundation headed by former US Senator and ally, Jim DeMint. Regardless, make no mistake; he will be met with great resistance in 2016. He stands headstrong against the modern day GOP on many things such as foreign policy and aide, and the establishment’s lack of bite when it comes to not raising taxes and protecting the Second Amendment.

Expect to see Paul square up against types who are marketed to the American people by the establishment as being “Tea Party candidates”.  Marco Rubio and Paul Ryan seem to stand out as these types, and are losing popularity with the actual Tea Party as they continue to align more with the establishment. The Republican Party hasn’t put one of their own in office since 1980 with Reagan. Is Paul the next Reagan? Paul can stand on his own merits, and no one should underestimate this. However, we also cannot underestimate the power of Reaganism.

For a ‘Revolution’ to occur, something must come to an end.  The question is will Paul be able to place the metaphorical bullet in the GOP’s head as Reagan did decades ago? If Paul does win- the Republican Party we know today will die. Many believe that is more than a fair trade.

Rand Paul’s Next Stop? Tennessee

Rand Paul (R-KY) seems to be on what many are considering a campaign spree. Rand is outpacing even the most ambitious names being thrown into the pot for possible 2016 GOP candidates. This shows his earnest desires to be a statesman connected to the people much like his father was, but also a far more pragmatic strategy where the Senior Paul could not deliver. Rand Paul was the first possible GOP candidate to hit the three early primary states. Paul has already hit South Carolina in January, here he addressed a group of Republican business leaders, and is already planning to return in the Summer to headline a statewide GOP gathering. He’s also scheduled to deliver keynote speeches at the annual dinners hosted by state GOP parties in Iowa and New Hampshire on May 10 and May 20. While in New Hampshire, he and GOP National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus are planning to hold a round-table meeting with tea-party activists in the state. Paul’s next stop is this Saturday in Tennessee. Tennessee is an important state for Paul, being from Kentucky, he is expected to have a strong showing in the neighboring state to the South if he decides to thrown in his hat. Paul is scheduled to deliver the Keynote speech at the Tennessee Republican Assembly Annual Conference. The event has sold out. James Gann, with Tennessee Campaign for Liberty provided us with the following statement:Rand Paul3

“I’m really excited to see Senator Rand Paul coming to speak at the TRA convention, and grateful to Sharon Ford and others at the TRA who have put this event together. Senator Paul has had a strong unifying effect between the libertarian and conservative groups within the Republican Party, and he provides a much needed voice for liberty on Capitol Hill. He is a candidate that I feel we can all get behind going into the 2016 presidential primaries”

Paul is scheduled to arrive at 10:00 AM to the Millennium Maxwell House hotel overlooking Downtown Nashville where he will first meet with organizers of the event before holding a book signing and delivering his keynote speech.

Can State Senator Bright Beat Lindsey Graham

South Carolina, and for that matter the entire non-establishment GOP is sick of Lindsey Graham. Many names have been thrown around, but no one has emerged as a definitive candidate just yet. Three names do stick out the most though. If Graham is going to be beat it has to be done in the primary. If South Carolina is serious about having a solid US Senator who will not tred on their constitutional rights they will have to come together on one candidate to contest
Graham. If the vote is split in any way, Graham will walk away victorious. That’s the hope of the Graham campaign anyways.

Is Lee Bright the one to Beat Lindsey Graham?

Is Lee Bright the one to Beat Lindsey Graham?

One name is State Senator Lee Bright. Bright is said to be nearing a decision soon. However, he has been troublesome for South Carolina from the start. First, his poll numbers are troublesome. Bright was down in the polls by more than 10 points against  the liberal leaning, alleged rapist State Senator Hawkins and was far behind in fundraising. It was not until Governor Haley stepped in to help Bright and save the South Carolina’s image that he was able to squeak out the primary win. If Bright is to take on one of the most heavily funded US Senators it is concerning that he could not out raise and out poll a State Senator that one police investigator referred to as “one of the strongest rape cases I have ever seen.” Second, even if Bright can overcome his troubles at the polls his financial crisis presents another problem. Bright’s company owes Capital Bank more than $318,000 and is currently facing foreclosure threats. Bright prides himself on being a fiscal Conservative, but is having trouble with his own finances. This is something Graham will surely attack him on. Many within the state are against Bright running. One  federal congressman has even asked him not to run. To Bright’s defense, he does have an incredibly strong voting record. However, many worry that’s not nearly enough to put him over the edge against Graham.

Another name to stick out is State Senator Tom Davis. Davis is extremely popular in South Carolina, particularly the grassroots. Davis even has a National audience with 17k Facebook fans, and 7k Twitter followers. His social media presence dwarfs most federal representatives all around the country. However, Davis does not feel the time is right and wants to focus on South Carolina legislation.

Next is the most recent, and perhaps strongest name being floated around Nancy Mace. When we previously reported on Mace we had no idea of the viral response that would follow. Her name went viral and internal statistics show that her name has been shared more than 30k times on social media networks within the last 48 hours. Those hoping to draft Mace to run against Graham created a Facebook page last night. The page reached more than 500 fans in less than 24 hours and is growing by the minute. In contrast, Lee’s Facebook draft page has only 200 fans and has been active for over 5 months. What makes Mace so popular? For one, she has Tom Davis’ blessing. Davis is now a major force behind propelling Mace to run against Graham. Second, Mace is the daughter of Brigadier General Emory Mace (US Army, Retired), and first ever female graduate of The Citadel Military College of South Carolina. Mace is also the founder of The Mace Group LLC holding a Master’s of Mass Communication and Journalism, and a Bachelor’s of Business. She is a contributor to The Daily Caller and The Hill, giving her a National platform. Mace is also the author of “In the Company of Men: A Woman at The Citadel”. These credentials make Mace an incredibly strong contender and the Nation has taken notice. Mace has told us that Super PACs are starting to eye her and consultants have now been in contact. However, Mace is still unsure of what her next move will be.

With Davis out of the picture, it seems that the two possible primary candidates are Bright and Mace. With Bright’s financial issues, polling problems, and lack of fundraising many are wondering if Bright’s motive is to advance liberty, or his own personal agenda for a bigger stage. Both have solid intentions and goals for advancing liberty, but whoever ends up taking on Graham will need to be a well funded, well articulated, sharp candidate free of baggage.  The Graham machine’s gears are starting to turn and they will be working overtime as this unpopular, establishment Republican is not going to go out quietly.

Rand Paul Never Voted for Indefinite Detention in 2013 NDAA

Libertarians began to abandon Rand Paul (R-KY) in droves after he voted for the 2013 NDAA. Many of them believed that this legislation included indefinite detention of US citizens. However, it did not. Many of them have sworn to never vote for Rand Paul again. These misguided libertarians are upset over nothing. Rand Paul explains:

I have noticed that many are confused by my vote for NDAA. Please allow me to explain.

First, we should be clear about what the bill is. NDAA is the yearly defense authorization bill. It’s primary function is to specify which programs can and can’t be funded within the Pentagon and throughout the military. It is not the bill that spends the money—that comes later in an appropriations bill.

Because I think we should spend less, I will offer amendments to cut spending. I will likely vote against the final spending bill. This wasn’t it.

This bill also isn’t about indefinite detention. This year’s bill did not contain the authorization for indefinite detention.

That provision was in last year’s NDAA bill.

Rand Paul

Rand Paul (R-KY)

The bill this year contained the amendment I supported which sharply limited the detention power, and eliminated it entirely for American citizens in the US. While it is only a partial victory, it was a big victory. Particularly compared to what passed last year. Even so, I will continue to fight to protect anyone who could possibly be indefinitely detained.

I would never vote for any bill, anywhere, that I believed enhanced the government’s power to abridge your rights and detain people. This goes against every principle I hold dear and the Constitution I took an oath to uphold and protect.

Government power and the many associated abuses have been piling up for years. We will not win all our liberties back at once. But we did win one battle this year, and we should be pleased that we did while also realizing the fight is really just getting started.

I hope you will keep fighting alongside me.”

Long time friend and Congressional ally, US Representative Justin Amash  provided the following statement:

Senator Rand Paul is correct in his description of the 2013 NDAA. It’s the 2012 NDAA (not 2013) that authorizes indefinite detention without charge or trial. There’s much more to be done to protect our rights and undo the harm of the 2012 NDAA (which doesn’t expire), but thanks to the efforts of United States Senator Mike Lee and Sen. Paul, we are making significant progress in (re-)advancing the principle that all people in the United States have a constitutionally protected right to full due process.”

With Super PACs already forming to support a Rand Paul for President 2016 ticket if the liberty movement hopes to advance it would seem that Rand Paul is their best chance in decades. However, with liberty focused alternative media smearing Rand’s name without warrant over his vote on the 2013 NDAA the  movement is not making their case any easier to win.

Kerry Hears News of Senate Confirmation

John Kerry has just been approved as the new US Secretary of State. His approval will relieve  Hillary Clinton of her position. The vote to approve was 94-3. John Kerry at 69 years old is a decorated Vietnam veteran, the 3rd wealthiest member of the US Congress, and 2004 Democratic Party presidential nominee. US Senator Bob Corker, (R-TN), the top Republican on Foreign Relations, said of Kerry, “My sense is he will be open to listening”. In regards to the ever growing liberty movement Kerry has stated, “The media has got to begin to not give equal time or equal balance to an absolutely absurd notion-“
